V4L got me playing the crap out of X4. it's a space combat sandbox/strategy game. you can fly around doing activities yourself, but also hire pilots and buy other ships to make fleets of your own to command. right now i've got a bunch of medium trading ships doing trading runs all over to make tons of money >:3

it's not as hard sci-fi as Elite Dangerous, but it feels like it has significantly more to do. the UX could use some work though...

anyone else playing it? it got a big update and sale recently so that's why i finally picked it up.

I really enjoy the X series, X4 is pretty awesome
I've finished most of the storylines, but haven't done many of the terraformer projects yet.

8.00 flight model kinda broke a few things and I had been taking a haitus, but I hear the recent update has done a lot to correct the issues I had

What're your favourite ships and factions?

i've mostly been dealing with the Argon, so most of my ships are from them, not sure if i have a favorite yet. still just doing a lot of exploring and trading, trying to working up to making stations.

i mostly fly around with the fighter that comes with the free Hyperion from the DLC, since it's basically fully upgraded. the mortar cannons that come with is are awesome against smaller ships. >:3

I've heard the blast mortars work better since the most recent patch, I've been meaning to try them out.

Argon have some good stuff, their medium flak turrets are my most-used and second-favourite medium turret, most of their craft are solid midline choices, and the Barbarossa is amazing, a well armed, and relatively fast, combat freighter.
But the best thing they have is their closed loop manufacturing: as long as a station is solely Argon, it can use a much more efficient manufacturing process than the other factions.

I just wish they had a better M7, the Cerberus is not my favourite d:

I should really get back into X4 again, all my hints and tips are probably out of date misinfo by now lol

I need to play these games more! I always suck at the early games in them.
